Oscar: This is a great film about an unlikely pairing that turns into a beautiful friendship. Miss Daisy (Jessica Tandy) plays an old woman who needs a chauffeur with whom, over the course of twenty-five years, develops a (unlikely for the time period) lasting friendship with her hired black driver. Both actors are engaging and totally believable as two people from a separate class-set that become close over time. Jessica Tandy is great as a sassy uptight well-to-do older woman who becomes close to Hoke (played by Morgan Freeman) a hired servant as they are forced to spend time together as the elderly woman cannot drive and needs Hoke to fill in as her driver.
Emmy: One of the great things about this film is that it is a period piece set in a time where these two people would not have likely become friends.. but they grew on each other when all pretenses were set aside as they depended on each other – a heartwarming watch, highly recommended!!!
