Oscar: I love movies set in New York City in the 60s and 70s. This is a great movie… John Voight is the naive cowboy and Dustin Hoffman is the streetwise New Yorker who shows him around the city. The chemistry between them is odd at first but then you are gradually brought in to appreciate the friendship. This film is famous for the “I’m Walkin’ Here” line as Ratzo (Hoffman) is almost hit by a car. The movie moves at a decent pace but be warned…sad ending.
Emmy: Classic buddy (?) movie. Two opposites bond off the necessity for each other. The movie runs a brisk pace and is never stagnate. Both Hoffman and Voight are masterful in this film. The New York scenery is fantastic and makes you feel as if you are there!! If you have never seen the film, I am jealous because it is a classic great film!!! I would not let youngsters see the film until they are older as it is gritty and realistic and heavy with pessimism and adult themed.
