Oscar: Happy Father’s Day all you dads!!! This is a pretty good modern horror/monster film….Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 96% with audience rating is 83%. Since the monsters in the film were blind, only noise could lead them to their prey. The characters in the film all used American Sign Language to communicate since they wouldn’t talk lest the aliens heard them. The movie starts off running at day 89 of an alien invasion. There is a lot of detail that the writers added such as: In a scene the family plays Monopoly but use soft plush toys as game pieces and roll the dice on a padded carpet (nice touch). The farm where the family is staying has painted floor planks to show where they need to step so the boards don’t creak. The film plays to the whole ‘no noises’ theme thoroughly and makes the weird premise believable.

Emmy: I enjoyed the film as well. I am an Office (tv show) fan so it is fantastic to see Jim Halpert (Krasinski) in a solid dramatic role. Apparently in the film, if you live next to a loud river or waterfall (hence the comic), the noises are louder than noises humans make rendering them relatively safe from the aliens… as Oscar pointed out a few times…Nice touch!!! This film pulls no punches and gives you straight action all the way through. Oscar and I recommend this film if you haven’t seen it. Emily Blunt has a great role in the film as a fearless mother and warrior!! Happy Father’s Day dads!!!

Oscar: Another GREAT film starring Jack Nicholson!! I’ve watched this movie too many times -haha but I love everything about it..even the ending was poetic.

Emmy: Totally agree with Oscar!! One of my top ten favorite movies.

Oscar: The ONLY Mel Brooks movie that tops this one for me is Blazing Saddles. It may be a controversial statement here, but one of the BEST things about the film to me is that it is in black and white..a great homage to the old monster Universal films back in the day. Evey actor in this film is perfect for the role and it is a genuinely funny and well-done movie. Out of every actor in this film, Cloris Leachman (Frau Blucher) is the funniest in my opinion. She is over-the-top but it works masterfully in this film.

Emmy: I liked the film (not as much as Oscar). It was entertaining and I chuckled a few times. I do like the fact that it was presented in black and white. I think it was a nice touch. I agree that Cloris Leachman stole the spotlight from all these legendary funny actors. One of the WOW moments for me is when I found out that Gene Hackman was the blind villager… maybe because it was such a small role for a man who was the star of one of the best films of the 70s – The French Connection (1971).

Oscar: This one was requested and it was fun to write and illustrate!! The good old football to the nose episode!!!

Oscar: The Partridge family was yet another great show created in the 70s. The best part about the show for me was the love/hate relationship between Danny (Bonaduce) and Keith (David Cassidy) providing some of the funniest scenes in my opinion. I grew up with six brothers so I totally understood the relationship!!!

Emmy: I feel the same way as Oscar…I grew up with 3 brothers and 2 sisters so I enjoyed this show on the same level. I really loved the mother (Shirley Jones) because she (like MANY mothers) kept the chaos together with motherly warmth and wisdom. She was the rock of the Partridge clan!! I also liked the fact that David Cassidy was her stepson in real life!!

Oscar: This movie is definitely in the top 3 favorites for me. The maniacal genius who is Stanley Kubrick created a vibe in this movie that makes the hairs on your arm stand straight up as soon as you enter the Outlook Hotel (The Stanley Hotel in real life). I’ve seen this movie many times and will watch it many more I’m sure. Jack Nicholson is definitely the star and he lives up to the billing. To me, the only Jack Nicholson role that rivals this movie is in ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ –another must see movie!!

Emmy: Oscar is correct that this is a must-see film for ANY horror fans or Jack Nicholson fans. The movie is flawless in it’s tone as it takes hold of you and doesn’t let go. There are no ‘slow parts’ to this film. All you can do is strap in and enjoy the ride!!!

Oscar: Ah yes, good ol’ Happy Days!! This was a great show to watch when you were a 70s kid…though, as most shows go, the creators had to evolve trying to reach a larger audience or taking a show about the 50s while attempting to stay relevant with the times and fashions. In my honest opinion, the show ‘jumped the shark’ when Chachi was introduced and then the time boundaries started blurring.

EMMY: I agree with Oscar… AND Once Leather Tuscadero showed up, the 80s tapped the 50s on the shoulder and unfortunately alienated the audience that made it a hit.

Oscar: I’ve been to Seattle many times as I used to live in Washington State from 1977 to 1985. It is a beautiful state and Seattle is a beautiful city. This is a love story about two people who meet after a widowed father’s son calls a radio talk show and talks his dad into discussing the death of his deceased wife Maggy. Annie (Meg Ryan) is a newspaper reporter and while listening to the talk show she becomes touched by the story, eventually wants to meet the father, Sam (Tom Hanks). It is basically a love story, but not sappy…it is entertaining, warm and funny in spots…a great date night film.

Emmy: Oh my gosh I love this movie. As Oscar alluded to, this film has everything. I rewatch it about once a year…one of my favorites!!! If you are a romantic at heart, this movie is for YOU!!!

According to IMDB, Sleepless in Seattle was ranked #10 on the American Film Institute’s 10 greatest romantic comedies in the Romantic Comedies genre in June of 2008.

Oscar: This one is for Jimbob who asked if I had drawn it. I did like the Seinfeld show…very funny comedy about some friends in New York that is relatable to anyone who has ever seen Jerry Seinfeld’s comedy. This was up there with Cheers and Mash as a fun way to spend a half hour watching some of Jerry’s comedy. ALL the actors were very funny in their own way and played the characters in a sustainable and uniquely humorous fashion with a spot-on late 80s and 90s nostalgia trip!!
