The Shining (1980)

Oscar: This movie is definitely in the top 3 favorites for me. The maniacal genius who is Stanley Kubrick created a vibe in this movie that makes the hairs on your arm stand straight up as soon as you enter the Outlook Hotel (The Stanley Hotel in real life). I’ve seen this movie many times and will watch it many more I’m sure. Jack Nicholson is definitely the star and he lives up to the billing. To me, the only Jack Nicholson role that rivals this movie is in ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ –another must see movie!!

Emmy: Oscar is correct that this is a must-see film for ANY horror fans or Jack Nicholson fans. The movie is flawless in it’s tone as it takes hold of you and doesn’t let go. There are no ‘slow parts’ to this film. All you can do is strap in and enjoy the ride!!!

    The Shining is my favorite movie of all time. Great writing. Great movie making. I heard Steven king didn’t like the adaptation but I thought it was great. Thanks for sharing your art.

      Thank you CT! I have read that about Steven King as well.. The movie though was FANTASTIC!! A lot of that is due to Jack Nicholson in my opinion but also I think it wouldn’t have been near as great if anyone other than Stanley Kubrick had directed it. I read that he was a strict taskmaster in his direction but his visuals (as in other movies he directed) are TOP NOTCH. I think the movie would have been inferior if anyone else had directed it.
