Little House on the Prairie (1974)

Oscar: Another tv saga/drama that had a different adventure each episode. I really enjoyed watching this western series…early on. Later in the seasons when Michael Landon said F…it and let his gray hair go unchecked, it ushered a shift in the Ingalls saga for me. The show is based on the Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books about the Ingalls family and her life on the prairie. Michael Landon was rightfully the star of the show and I think he was fantastic in it…just don’t do what I did and look up the behind the scenes issues with him involved…it would taint the “angelic” opinions that one could form.

Emmy: I faithfully watched the show. I enjoyed the wholesomeness of the episodes and the struggles they had to endure in those times. Laura was my favorite character who was part naive but had an inner strength that I imagine one MUST’VE had in those days. I did not do what Oscar did and recount the issues with Michael Landon as I would like to maintain the wholesome innocence of my memories of the show!!

Thank you Ginger!! I watched it until some of the cast left. It was a nice escape to all the hustle and bustle of life in the fast lane.

I love this show! At least until Pa leaves. It is so good and dramatic and funny! I would skip some episodes however. There is a little too much violence but there is also great role models and good messages. However there are also some racists comments made. Definitely recommend but don’t watch with young kids. Young kids will freak out.

I agree with you… it was good for a while but as with any show it got stale..casting changes..ran out of ideas.. etc.. this happens with EVERY show sooner or later. Once Pa leaves..yeah there went a BIG part of the dynamic that kept it interesting. Thank you for your insight, Reviewer!!!

I loved this series until Mary went blind. That took a weird turn for me. But your drawings are superb. I like your collection you’ve posted. How long have you been drawing? I also draw but mainly with pencil. And mostly jungle life.

Good morning, Charles!! Wow Michael Landon was a great person to look like! Yeah, I was sad to see and hear of reports that he was not like the characters he played on TV at all. Through work, I knew a guy that had a professional carpet laying company and he did a lot of stars homes and I asked who was the best and worst customers… He smiled and said that Johnny Carson was the best..super funny and engaging. Then, the smile left his face and he said undoubtably Michael Landon was the biggest bleep bleep (bad words) in his entire customer base…seems Pa had a few demons.
