Sleepless in Seattle (1993) (click on title)

Oscar: I’ve been to Seattle many times as I used to live in Washington State from 1977 to 1985. It is a beautiful state and Seattle is a beautiful city. This is a love story about two people who meet after a widowed father’s son calls a radio talk show and talks his dad into discussing the death of his deceased wife Maggy. Annie (Meg Ryan) is a newspaper reporter and while listening to the talk show she becomes touched by the story, eventually wants to meet the father, Sam (Tom Hanks). It is basically a love story, but not sappy…it is entertaining, warm and funny in spots…a great date night film.

Emmy: Oh my gosh I love this movie. As Oscar alluded to, this film has everything. I rewatch it about once a year…one of my favorites!!! If you are a romantic at heart, this movie is for YOU!!!

According to IMDB, Sleepless in Seattle was ranked #10 on the American Film Institute’s 10 greatest romantic comedies in the Romantic Comedies genre in June of 2008.

Dude! You nailed Meg Ryan’s likeness. I thought the film was just okay but my wife loves it. So I also watch it begrudgingly about once a year.

I I like to think of myself as an enjoyer of pretty sophisticated films, but I think romantic comedies often don’t get enough credit as one of the best movie genres out there. Sleepless in Seattle was a really beautiful film that I really enjoyed. I had mixed feelings about Nora Ephron from the pretty good but not all too well made film When Harry Met Sally, but this film which she both wrote and directed really proves her as quite a talented filmmaker. The settings and all of the locations in this film are amazing and very memorable, the cinematography is great at many times, it’s well written. I love how you incorporated her getting lost and looking at maps here. This film has a lot of strengths. The use of music in the film with both the soundtrack and the score was amazing and added a great touch of emotions to scenes. And Meg Ryan was a great lead for the film and she gave a great performance. This is an all around amazing romance, and I understand why it’s such a classic.

It isn’t as good as You’ve Got Mail but better than While You Were Sleeping. Meg Ryan’s character is basically a butterfly who moves on when life gets routine and mundane IMHO Im waiting for Sleepingin Seattle 2 . when the kid gets asthma or has to go into rehab or the guy has to do chemo and see how long she lasts.
