Driving Miss Daisy (1989) – click title

Oscar: This is a great film about an unlikely pairing that turns into a beautiful friendship. Miss Daisy (Jessica Tandy) plays an old woman who needs a chauffeur with whom, over the course of twenty-five years, develops a (unlikely for the time period) lasting friendship with her hired black driver. Both actors are engaging and totally believable as two people from a separate class-set that become close over time. Jessica Tandy is great as a sassy uptight well-to-do older woman who becomes close to Hoke (played by Morgan Freeman) a hired servant as they are forced to spend time together as the elderly woman cannot drive and needs Hoke to fill in as her driver.

Emmy: One of the great things about this film is that it is a period piece set in a time where these two people would not have likely become friends.. but they grew on each other when all pretenses were set aside as they depended on each other – a heartwarming watch, highly recommended!!!

This used to be my favorite movie. I still like it but I have others ranked higher. Have you always known you wanted to draw? I draw too but I’m just a beginner and I’m only 14. How do you draw comics and come up with ideas? I mostly try to draw celebrities but I need more practice.

First of all, thank you for visiting us Ben!! I knew I wanted to draw when I was about your age!! We didn’t have internet back then so I drew my family members in little one panel comics and they encouraged me to keep drawing and I encourage YOU to keep drawing. You are on the right track Ben…practice, practice, practice!! I promise you that if you keep drawing you will surprise yourself at how much you will improve!! If you like my comics, it shows that you have a unique (and twisted 🙂 sense of humor like me. You don’t have to be so serious when you practice..experiment and draw different things, different styles, shading, coloring, different facial positions (side view, quarter view, subject looking up, looking down, sad, happy, laughing, angry, etc.) You are on the right track right now my friend..you apparently have the desire so keep at it!!! DO NOT be afraid to mess up, miss the likeness, be stumped for ideas… it is all part of the process. If you keep at it, I GUARANTEE YOU that you will only get better and better!!
