Cheers (1982)

OSCAR: One of my all-time favorite sitcoms… no politics, no serious messages, no dramatic nonsense, just fun!!! I lived with my aunt and uncle for a while back in the day after I was (honorably) discharged from the U.S. Navy and we would sit up and watch Cheers as it became a custom for us to do so. GREAT memories…sigh

EMMY: I loved Cheers also and for the same reasons that Oscar did. No political preaching or unnecessary drama and all the characters had perfect comic harmony. I miss shows like this.

Let us know what YOU think!!!

Comments.

This is the Super Bowl of comedy.’ meaning their lives and savoring their friendships. Long had trouble slipping back into Diane’s quirky mannerisms. But everyone else went out in fine style, especially Danson as a surprisingly introspective Sam, Kirstie Alley as the totally hysterical Rebecca and Kelsey Grammer as the future spin-off shrink Frasier. More importantly, Cheers went out as the anachronism it has always been – with people laughing at sexist jokes in a feminist age, with lovable losers drinking in an age of new temperance and hopping into bed in an AIDS crisis. But that was the amazing thing about Cheers.

Hi Bart!! Thank you very much!! I enjoy creating the comics and my hope is always that people who visit this blog likes them!! Cheers was one my favorite sitcoms of all time. All the characters were great and even the characters that came later were great as well which, to me, is rare in television!! The opening tune is so iconic and was perfect for the series!!

Hi Viv!! I agree with you 100%!! The early episodes with Coach and Dianne were the best!! Woody and Rebecca were ok. One of my favorite characters was Frasier.. Kelsey Grammer was hilarious – especially when he laughed and joined in with the ‘low brow’ humor of the bar patrons!!
