Happy Days (1974)

Oscar: Ah yes, good ol’ Happy Days!! This was a great show to watch when you were a 70s kid…though, as most shows go, the creators had to evolve trying to reach a larger audience or taking a show about the 50s while attempting to stay relevant with the times and fashions. In my honest opinion, the show ‘jumped the shark’ when Chachi was introduced and then the time boundaries started blurring.

EMMY: I agree with Oscar… AND Once Leather Tuscadero showed up, the 80s tapped the 50s on the shoulder and unfortunately alienated the audience that made it a hit.

This is my all-time favorite TV series. Loved loved loved Fonzi. He was the epitome of cool. He really played the character well. To me, he made the series. And you drew him to perfection. The later episodes started getting corny. Did not like jumping the shark. And I think in real life Henry Winkler was nothing like Fonzi. He was great in Arrested Development and his character was a complete 180 from Fonzi.

Thank you Julia!! I feel exactly the same way…Fonz was cool but, in my opinion, they shouldn’t have made him the central character. I think it was better when he was in scenes briefly because it gave him a bigger mystique and made his appearances more powerful.

I agree with Oscar. The time boundaries did blur. They ran out of ideas so brought in chachi and the whole jump the shark was nonsense. They lost me after that. And to think they tried a spinoff— Joanie loves Chachi. SMH

It starts off as a pretty wholesome, straightforward comedy about life in the 50s and eventually devolves into Fonzie performing borderline supernatural acts and everyone sporting a creepy anachronistic 70s hairdo. Once you hit Robin Williams as Mork, you will see why this show is considered the godfather of shark jumping. I have fond memories of watching it as a kid, though. Funny comic.

Thank you Bill!! I start off in pencil, yes and then I use Pigma Micron Pens (they come in different size nibs at the top).. They are excellent art pens. I highly recommend them to anyone who inks their drawings.
